Kindred spirits eveningOnce per month the Artbiro company and Dvorni bar will prepare a Kindred Spirits Evening. Zoran Predin will host well‑known Slovenians (writers, musicians, actors, athletes) and talk to them about topics that they usually cannot or will not mention during their everyday work or in media presentations. The discussions will focus on books, hobbies, secret wishes and voluntarism.We will also host young singers‑songwriters who are to perform their original repertoire, based on the Slovenian language and contemporary urban topics. In this way they will be able to present themselves to a high‑quality audience that they could not reach otherwise due to their anonymity. We are convinced that in this way we will discover many new urban authors who will contribute to the cultural contents of the city of Ljubljana. In a way, the well‑known main guests of these evenings will be like "sponsors" of the young singers‑songwriters. However, with the word "sponsors" we are referring mostly to moral sponsorship, where the guests stake their names on the performers, and the performers justify the trust of the evenings' main guests with their creativity and professionalism. That is a natural creative symbiosis, much too often overlooked locally, since we only see sponsorship as exchange of money and services, and not also as the establishment of the conditions for the presentation of new qualities and discovery of fresh content. The purpose of this project is to attract as many people to the Kindred Spirits Evening as possible who are creatively curious, always interested in something new, and who are not satisfied by simply following the projects with abundant media exposure. During these evenings, experience and youthful creativity will meet. Such gatherings allow for the promotion of high‑quality artistic contents and information, contributing to better cultural and artistic atmosphere in Ljubljana. They are to mobilise the creative potentials and present them publicly to the Ljubljana cultural‑artistic community that will recognise true value through its own criteria. Singing‑songwriting is one of the oldest forms of combining music and lyrics. This form includes musicianship, since singers‑songwriters accompany themselves during concerts (most often on guitar or piano), as well as literature, as they sing their original poetry. The lyrics convey artistic messages and fresh ideas. The universal nature of singers‑songwriters reflects the urban environment these artists create in. Therefore it is important that the city of Ljubljana should discover, support and promote them. Looking forward to seeing you!
